Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY)
TCTSY is an evidence-based treatment for complex trauma and complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It was developed at the Trauma Center in Brookline, Massachusetts, and is the first and only yoga program in the world officially listed as an evidence-based practice for the treatment of psychological trauma. Used with children, youth, and adults throughout the United States and around the world, TCTSY is grounded in recent advances in neuroscience which have revealed the significant lasting affects on brain functioning that occur when a person is exposed to extreme trauma. In particular, TCTSY has proven to be an effective treatment for learning how to recognize different feelings and sensations, modulate arousal, and make active choices. TCTSY is different from yoga practiced in a yoga studio or fitness gym. It emphasizes making each student feel safe and gives him or her choices about how to attempt and execute different accessible poses. It is an empowering practice that can help heal all kinds of trauma. At CCH, we provide TCTSY services on an individual basis.

Evidence suggests that nutrition plays an important role in the development, management, and prevention of mental health problems such a depression, anxiety, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. For these and other mental health conditions, ensuring that the diet provides the right nutrients can be beneficial. In addition, vitamins, minerals, and herbal supplements have also been shown to have an impact on the prevention and treatment of mental health problems typically treated with drugs, with the added benefit that they tend to be safer and cost less. Through nutrition counseling, we can help clients optimize their diets, possibly with the help of supplements, to improve mental health and decrease the risk of future psychiatric disorders.
