Nathaniel Luers

EDUCATION
Nathaniel received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, majoring in psychology with a minor in sport coaching. Nathaniel is currently a part of the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota doctoral program pursuing a Doctor of Psychology Degree (Psy.D).
EXPERIENCE
Nathaniel has been exposed to many settings within his training, including private practice and community mental health. These unique experiences have led Nathaniel to work with people with many differing identities and backgrounds, as well as presenting concerns. Nathaniel's training and exposure to multiple settings and backgrounds have allowed him to develop as a clinician in order to provide the highest possible level of care for those who work with him. Previously, Nathaniel has worked across the lifespan with many presenting concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and more.
MENTAL HEALTH APPROACH
Nathaniel believes that a strong therapeutic relationship is essential for productive therapy. In session, Nathaniel often lets those he works with dictate what to focus on to best meet the client where they are at. Nathaniel often utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques and skills to assist in the therapeutic process. Nathaniel prefers to build a strong relationship and utilize appropriate techniques to guide sessions, which allows for the client to grow and meet clinical goals.
CURRENT PRACTICE
Nathaniel provides individual therapy to adolescents and adults and is also involved in comprehensive psychological testing services. Nathaniel's areas of interest are in working with anxiety, depression, adult psychotherapy, and comprehensive psychological evaluation. Nathaniel's coaching background also leads to his interest in working with athletes and coaches.
