Andrew Hubartt, MSW, LICSW

Mental Health Therapist

“Understanding the patterns that keep us stuck allows us to sometimes choose differently, and choosing differently is often how change begins.”

EDUCATION

Andrew received both his Bachelor of Social Work and Master of Social Work degrees from Indiana University. His graduate education focused on mental health and substance use.

EXPERIENCE

Andrew has experience providing individual therapy to adults with a wide range of mental health concerns, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, identity concerns, stress, and major life transitions. His background includes outpatient psychotherapy, telehealth, and community-based mental health work.

He has particular experience working with adults seeking neurodivergent-affirming care and with clients who want to better understand longstanding emotional, behavioral, and relational patterns while also developing practical ways of responding differently.

CERTIFICATIONS

Andrew is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in Minnesota. He has completed specialized training in ADHD, including presentations that may be more common, masked, or overlooked in women and in people assigned female at birth and/or socialized as girls, as well as in trauma-informed care and veteran trauma.

MENTAL HEALTH APPROACH

Andrew’s approach is grounded in humanistic and person-centered therapy. He believes meaningful change is more likely in a therapeutic relationship characterized by empathy, authenticity, acceptance, and genuine curiosity. Rather than positioning himself as the expert on a client’s life, Andrew works collaboratively to understand each person from their own perspective, identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and explore changes that feel meaningful and consistent with who they are.

Within this foundation, Andrew draws primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). He uses these approaches flexibly to help clients better understand how past experiences and recurring patterns influence the present, develop greater psychological flexibility, clarify what matters to them, and make more intentional choices in how they respond to difficult thoughts, emotions, and circumstances.

CURRENT PRACTICE

Andrew provides individual psychotherapy to adults experiencing ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, grief, stress and burnout, identity concerns, and major life transitions. He provides both in-person and telehealth therapy and offers neurodivergent-affirming and LGBTQ+ affirming care.

Andrew has a particular clinical interest in ADHD and neurodivergence more broadly. He enjoys working with adults who are newly diagnosed or developing a new understanding of themselves through the lens of neurodivergence, including how it may help make sense of longstanding difficulties in relationships, work or career, social connection, and self-esteem. He also enjoys helping clients develop greater understanding and, often, acceptance of how they naturally function, and find ways of working with, rather than against, themselves in areas of life where they feel stuck.
